On Thursday, March 18, 2004 the Homeschool Meeting House in East Montpelier, Vermont had it's opening. Forty-five to fifty current and future homeschoolers (from fifteen to twenty families) gathered in the Parish House of the Old Meeting House for games, crafts, socializing, and other play. Gatherings have continued through the past year and a half, taking a break over the summers. The group has held regular Tae Kwon-Do and Spanish classes, an energy workshop, ELF classes, a holiday craft-making day, a used curriculum swap, and other classes and events. Spanish classes may be starting up again for fall of 2005. This bright, beautiful building is just perfect to accommodate a large group with varied ages, interests, and needs. The Homeschool Meeting House is open on the first and third Thursdays of each month, from 10am to 2pm throughout the spring. There is always time for informal play, crafts, and socializing, as well as classes, workshops. and field trips for various ages. The goal is to expand connections and opportunities for homeschoolers in the area, and what the Homeschool Meeting House offers will depend on what the people involved want and can bring to it. We invite other families to join us and bring your energy and ideas! Contact Rebecca Yahm for more information and to join the new Yahoo listserv. |
